Beyond Words: The Subconscious Language of Body and Dress: by Barb Dailey, College Admissions Representative for FIDM – Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles. Discover the eight types of nonverbal communication and their impact on your students’ success. Thursday, March 7, at lunch in the Learning Resource Center.

Junior Jumpstart Night and College Fair: 40 + college representatives from several different states and countries will be in attendance. Learn about the many different college options, scholarships, tuition, internships, sports and clubs that the schools have to offer. Tuesday,
March 12, at 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm in the 200 building and Learning Resource Center.


Spring PACT Mock Practice Test: by Mary Russell, CDMHS College Programs Coordinator and sponsored by Princeton Review on Saturday, March 23, at 8:00 am to 12:00 pm in rooms #233, #235, LRC. This is a four-hour timed ACT practice test with proctors. It is just like taking the real test but score reporting only goes to the student and parent. There is a $20 fee to sign up through the CDM Foundation website. For grades 9-11.


Reducing Anxiety in College Admissions and Standardized Testing: by Nick Standlea, CEO of Test Prep Gurus, will be giving a very informative presentation on how to deal with the stress of applying to college on Monday, March 25th at 6:30 pm in the Lecture Hall. His main focus will be on the college application process and how to reduce anxiety during this exciting but sometimes overwhelming time for students and parents. Flyer

United States Service Academies Information Night: by 5 college representatives from the US academies; Navy, Air Force, Military, Coast Guard and Merchant Marines; on Monday, March 18th at 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm in the Learning Resource Center. Also, ROTC representatives from the different military branches will be available with information for student grades 9-12. Flyer


How to Choose Your Major: by Camille Crites, Associate Director of Admissions for Syracuse University. Get in-depth information on how the process works when choosing a major/double major at colleges and universities. Wednesday, March 27, at lunch in the Learning Resource
Center.


Boston University Information Night: by Elise Fischer, Associate Director of Admissions, will be presenting information on BU admission requirements, scholarships available, popular majors, internships, study abroad, clubs and sports on Tuesday, April 2nd at 6:30 pm in the Lecture Hall.


CDMHS “BIG” Spring College Fair: by 75 + college representatives from the United States, Europe and Canada on Monday, April 15th at lunch in the Main Quad for grades 7-12 and parents. Flyer   Flyer


Coastline Regional Occupational Program – ROP Parent Informational Coffee: by an ROP Representative, Laurie Rybaczyk, CDM Counselor and Mary Russell on Tuesday, April 30th at 10:00 am in the LRC for parents of high school students. Flyer


College and Interpersonal Relationships: Keeping our Youth Socially, Emotionally and Sexually Safe: by John Emme, CDMHS Educator in Psychology and Sociology with a Master’s Degree in
Adolescence, will speak to college bound students and parents on college safety. Topics will include: drugs. alcohol, sexual assault, stalking and sexually transmitted infections. This lively presentation will be filled with tips and pointers to make the college experience as fun and safe
as possible. (This presentation will include adult content and graphic information). Monday, April 22, at 6:30 pm in the LRC.

The American University of Paris Visa Night: by Jen Boucher, Assistant Director of Admissions, will be conducting a session on “How to Apply for a Visa” for students and parents interested in attending AUP on Thursday, May 16, at 6:30 pm in the Learning Resource Center. NOTE: If your student is applying to any international college or university, come join the informational session!
