College Packets/Letters of Recommendation
Check out this powerpoint if you have questions about Letters of Recommendation from teachers and/or Counselor Written Evaluations
College letters of recommendation are a very important part of the college admissions selection process. Some colleges have early decision or priority deadlines of November 1st. Many regular decision deadlines are December 1st and then generally the final deadlines are January 15th. In order to write a comprehensive, personal and anecdotal letter about each of our students, counselors take one day per week (during the first semester) and focus on writing these important letters. Please be advised that on these days we will be unavailable for other counseling issues, however, the other members of the counseling team are ready to assist you if there is an emergency issue that can not wait until the following day.
- Important message for seniors and their parents: If you are applying to a four-year college that requires a letter of recommendation from your counselor, we need 4 weeks notice to write a letter for you. Holiday breaks do not count, which means, if you have a letter of recommendation due on January 15th, we need to have your request by December 1st. If you have any questions, please contact your counselor.
- If you are applying to a UC and/or CSU campus, all applications are due by November 30th, however, letter of recommendations are not required. They may request transcripts. Please check individual UC/CSU websites for more information.
